WHAT ARE WE?

The Home School Association is a registered charity which exists to help develop and support the school. It has a committee of staff members, parents and friends with an interest in the school who meet once or twice each term to organise events aimed at promoting the relationship between home and school and to raise funds for the benefit of our children at the school.  The meetings are open to all, so please feel free to come along.

As your child joins us at Ringmer Primary, you become a member of the H.S.A.  We are always grateful for any help and support you feel able to give; whether you come along to our events or help out, your participation is what counts.

 WHAT DO WE DO?

Every school year, we hold a variety of events including jumble sales, after-school discos which the children love, social events such as a barn dance or a salsa evening both for the whole family and sometimes just for the adults and, of course, our annual Summer Fair which is tremendous fun and raises a good sum of money each year.  In addition, we have sold flowering bulbs; chocolates, seeds and Christmas paper and cards, craft and party bag goodies, run sponsored events, held quiz evenings, an Auction of Promises and lots more.  You name it, we’re prepared to try it!

We are always open to new ideas.  If you would like to help out or have a talent or interest to share on a regular or one-off basis, please do come along to one of our meetings or speak to any member of the committee.  We welcome your suggestions.

In addition to the above activities, the H.S.A. runs the school uniform shop which stocks a range of good quality, affordable uniform, book bags and P.E. bags as well as second-hand uniform.  The shop is here for your convenience, so please ask if there is anything you would like us to stock.

We distribute the Scholastic Books leaflet periodically where you can select books for your children and the school benefits from a generous number of free books in return.

The H.S.A. is responsible for collecting tokens, such as Box Tops for Education, Persil Stars, etc. and the school has benefited greatly from the extra equipment that these promotions provide.  We do not specifically endorse the various products offering tokens, but do ask that if they are part of your weekly shop, you take the time to cut out the tokens and place them in the collection box, found outside the school office.

We participate in an on-line retail scheme which makes a contribution to our funds from all purchases made from a range of major retailers.  Do take a look at www.buy.at/RingmerHSA; every purchase will benefit our funds.

We keep all our members informed about what’s on, what we are raising money for and how you can help by means of a regular newsletter.  If you have something to contribute make sure we know about it.

Above all, we are here for the benefit of you, our members, and of our children.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

regularly or just once.  Yes, we have a core committee, but help from everyone is required to make our efforts successful.  Our jumble sales, for example, have become more profitable since an army of mums and children drop leaflets through every door (or nearly every door!) in Ringmer – many hands make light work!  Our Summer Fair can be more enjoyable and more profitable with extra pairs of hands to set up, man stalls for a short while or clear away at the end of the evening.  The emphasis is on each and every one of our members (you!) doing whatever they feel they can – every little really does help.  Volunteering saves the few feeling like they are badgering the many!

The HSA has joined an affiliate marketing company who will donate commission for each purchase made through their site please visit them at: www.buy.at/ringmerhsa

Governors

The Governing Body has a general responsibility for the effective management of the school so as to meet the needs of the pupils, the proper expectations of the parents and the interests of the wider community. Governors have far more overall responsibility for the management of the school than was the case a few years ago; however the Local Education Authority still retains particular responsibilities and offers a variety of services to which the Governors may decide whether or not to subscribe. If you would like to contact the Governing Body please contact the school office. e-mail: schooloffice@ringmer-pri.e-sussex.sch.uk
