Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome to the last letter of this term. I hope you all have a restful and enjoyable break.
Staffing
We are looking to appoint a Midday Supervisor for two days a week. If you know anyone who may be interested please contact the school office as soon as possible.
Parent/Carer Parking
Any one who uses the school car park will know how difficult it can be to find a parking place especially in the morning. In the past staff used the back of the school behind the hall to park but as the numbers of staff have increased, it is obvious that additional parking spaces are required. Although at present we are not anticipating asking parents/carers not to use the school car park I do ask that you do not park behind the back of the school. This area should be considered as a staff only parking area. Although this is a regular point of discussion the school has yet to find a solution to solving the parking issues. Thank you for your cooperation in this area.
General Reminders
Please remind your children that if they are Year 1 or above they are not permitted to ride scooters or bikes along the path.
Bike Shed
The Home School Association has kindly agreed to fund the updating of the bike and scooter storage area. Hopefully the changes will make it easier for children to store their bikes and scooters during the school day.
Netball
Well done to our two netball teams for their tremendous successes at the Ringmer Cluster Tournament. We won the tournament and will be representing the Ringmer Cluster at the Southdown Area Finals on Tuesday, 8 March. Thank you to Mrs Goldsmith for all the hard work she puts in coaching the children.
Cross Country Events
Over the past month the school has taken part in number of cross country events. On the whole the school has done very well and we are very proud of all the children who took part and represented the school. Our PE subject leader Mrs Goldsmith comments that at a recent inter-house event all the runners did really well. She comments that year 3 did especially well and were very brave volunteering to run on behalf of their teams. A huge thank you to Mrs Jan Goldsmith for running the event and all the children who volunteered to race on behalf of their teams.

Cross Country Event at Stanmer Park, Brighton
Chloe Y6, Danielle Y5 and Ben Y4 represented the school at the Cross Country event. They raced against many other schools from all over Sussex. All three did very well and we are very proud of their hard work and efforts. A big thank you goes to Mr Giddey our Cross Country Coach and to the children’s parents for accompanying them on the day.
May Day Celebrations
This year our May Day celebrations will be on Friday, 6 May from 1.30pm. Key Stage 1 will give a display of May Pole Dancing and Key Stage 2 will entertain us with a variety of Country Dances. After the event the HSA will be selling refreshments. I look forward to seeing you at this event.
Royal Wedding Celebrations
As you are aware there is national holiday on Friday, 29 April to celebrate the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton. The school has decided to mark this event in school the day before on Thursday, 28 April in the afternoon with a whole school celebration. The children are asked to come to school in fancy dress in any outfit inspired by the Royal Wedding. This can be anything from coming dressed as a member of the royal family, a wedding theme or even in red, white and blue. Apart from fancy dress we do not have anything else planned for the afternoon and would like your ideas. There will be an initial meeting on Thursday, 10 March at 2.30pm at the school. Please come along or if you are unable to do so please send your ideas to the school office.
Yours sincerely
Mrs Jackie Warren
