Home School Association (HSA) Event
There will be a school disco on Friday, 18 February after school.
General Reminders
- Please can I remind everyone that the school gate does not open until 8.45am.
- According to the Health Protection Agency and school policy, if your child has diarrhoea and/or vomiting please ensure they are kept away from school for 48 hours from the last episode.
School Uniform
The school often has comments about how lovely the children look in their uniform. This is down to you as parents/carers and I thank you for making sure that not only does your child come to school on time and with what they need but also smartly dressed. It has been noticed that there are a small number of children who do not come to school dressed in the school uniform. This can be difficult for these children as they may be questioned by staff and feel embarrassed when there is a general reminder in assembly about coming to school dressed in the correct uniform. Parents sometimes comment to me that it is unfair on their own children who wear the correct uniform when others are seen to be flouting the school uniform rules.
If you wish to purchase new or second hand uniform we do have a uniform shop every Wednesday at 3.00 pm in the school hall and you can also collect an order form from the school office if you are unable to come in to school on this day. Uniform without the logo can also be purchased from any outlet that supplies school uniform. If you find that your child for whatever reason does not have the correct uniform please inform the school in writing.
The school uniform is as follows:
Plain light blue shirt or blouse, light blue polo shirt with or without school logo
Plain navy blue sweatshirt or cardigan, with or without school logo (fleeces are not accepted as indoor uniform)
Plain grey or navy trousers, shorts or skirt (cargo style trousers are not permitted)
Low heeled black or navy blue shoes suitable to be worn outside for poor weather conditions
Plain black, navy, white or grey socks
If your child needs to have an adapted form of the uniform due to medical conditions this must be agreed by the school. If you are in any doubt about anything concerning uniform please see your child’s class teacher or contact the school office to make an appointment to see me. Thank you for your co-operation in this matter.
Inset Days
There are inset days on 8 April, 27 May and 6 June.
Adventure Playground (Diggle Trail)
The Governing Body has decided to put a fence around the adventure trail in the playground. The fence will be a physical reminder that the adventure trail should only be used by school children when permitted to do so by a member of staff. At present the trail still has the temporary fencing around it. We hope to do this in the next couple of months before the warmer and hopefully drier weather allows the children to go back onto the grass again. The Home School Association has kindly agreed to fund some of the costs towards this.
Inconsiderate Parking
Several parents have raised concerns about inconsiderate parking in the School Car Park. There was an incident this week when a parent refused to move to allow other parents to leave the car park. Please keep in mind how your parking may impact on others.
Yours sincerely
Mrs Jackie Warren
