Our school is a community primary school providing education for children aged between four and eleven. It is situated on a very pleasant site at the eastern end of the village of Ringmer. The building is light and spacious, and the school provides a high quality learning environment for our children.

Outside, we have two hard play areas and a large area of grass for the children to play on. We also have the use of extensive playing fields adjacent to our site that are shared with Ringmer Community College.

Ringmer itself is a large village, with many clubs, societies and organised facilities for children and adults. It also has its own community college providing secondary and adult education.

Ringmer is close to the ancient County Town of Lewes, which has a good range of shops and cultural facilities.

Should you require any further information that is not contained in this prospectus, or if you would like to arrange to come and visit the school, please do not hesitate to contact me.

The School’s Aims

Children will learn if they feel happy and secure, and if their natural curiosity is aroused. They learn best when they are actively involved in their learning, with skilled teachers to guide them.

Children learn at different speeds and different ways. As a school, our aim is to provide an atmosphere and a richness of experience within which each child’s unique qualities can flourish.

Our emphasis is on the importance of individual development, helping each child to realise his or her maximum potential. We aim, therefore, to set high standards for each child so that they are constantly challenged to develop further their skills and understanding.

Self-confidence and self-regard is the basis from which learning stems and we aim to establish a climate in which children can gain confidence in themselves and a willingness to develop their talents.

We also place great importance on children’s social development, helping them to learn to work and share together, and to show kindness and consideration to each other.

The School’s aims, therefore, are:

• To stimulate curiosity, imagination and a desire to investigate and to learn.

• To help children towards a greater understanding of, and respect for, the world in which we live.

• To nurture the development of those skills that will enable children to gain personal autonomy and become full and active participants in the community.

• To encourage the growth of self-discipline, responsibility, respect for individual and group differences, and consideration and courtesy to others.
